We are a bespoke concrete block manufacturer and solutions provider with a focus on civil, groundwork and infrastructural projects specialising in retaining walls and material bays. Recently, we have launched our retaining walls design and supply service which includes – Gravity, Reinforced Concrete, Inclined and Earth Retaining Walls.

These blocks are assembled to build structures instantaneously without the need for expensive joining techniques or intensive labour hours. Thus, resulting in a reduction in construction times by up to 50%. Walls can be built for temporary structures with Blockwalls.

The Challenge

Martin Doble, a private developer, approached Blockwalls to help design and supply blocks for 2 separate retaining walls, which were needed to complete terracing to site. As the retaining walls were going to be in a residential area, the client required the wall to have an appealing looking finish rather than the standard concrete finish.

The Solution

The solution was to use Blockwalls patented reinforced BW600 R system, this is where rebar is inserted through precast holes in the blocks and into the foundation. Blockwalls created the initial wall designed using 3D CAD software, which gave the client a visual of what the wall will look like as well as giving the exact sizes and number of blocks need to complete the project. As this was a retaining wall, a structural calculation was needed. Blockwalls used a local engineering company to carry out the structural calculations, keeping the client informed every step of the way. A timber cladding was used to finishes off the wall, to make it more aesthetically pleasing, and less urbanized.
